CELEBRATION OF MAX’S LIFE service at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Mound Church, rural Jasper County with Bro. Randy Nave officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mound Cemetery.  Oblong American Legion Post #219 will have the military rites.

Max Wayne Nave, 83, of Willow Hill, IL passed away at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015 at his residence.  Born in Terre Haute, IN., on August 2, 1931, he was the son of Ray M. Nave and Ida E. (Brough) Nave.

Max served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 ~ 1956.  He was employed in the maintenance department at Caterpillar in East Peoria, IL for 28 years, retiring in 1991.  He was a member of the Mound Church, rural Jasper County and the NRA (National Rifle Association). Max enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, playing poker, making pies, canning and going to the coffee shops.  He enjoyed watching NASCAR and cheering for Mark Martin #6 and the St. Louis Cardinals.  Most of all, he was known as a “Jack-of-all-trades.”

Max is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law Bruce Nave, Fayetteville, TN.; Chris and Lisa Nave, Mesa, AZ.; Jack and Susan Nave, East Peoria, IL.; a daughter Sherry Sparks, Fayetteville, N.C.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Max in death were his parents: a son Terry Lee Nave; a brother Charles Nave; 2 daughters-in-law Roxanne Nave and Sheila Nave.
